Badge License

Version 1.1 — effective 14 August 2026

This page explains what you may do with a badge delivered by Emblemry. It forms part of the Terms of Service.

There are two licences. Public free badges carry an attribution requirement and may be used by anyone. Private paid badges carry no attribution requirement and are licensed only to the account holder and people acting for them.

1. Public free badges

Subject to the limits below, Emblemry grants everyone a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:

  • download and copy a released public badge;
  • use it for personal or commercial purposes;
  • print it on physical goods or include it in digital work;
  • modify, crop, recolour, combine, or adapt it; and
  • share and redistribute the original or a modified version.

This licence is granted only to the extent Emblemry can lawfully grant the relevant rights.

Attribution

Every public-badge use must include the words Created with Emblemry.

For a digital use, link those words to https://emblemry.com. For a physical use or another context where a working link is impractical, use the words in plain text. Attribution must be reasonably visible, but it does not need to be printed inside the badge itself.

2. Private paid badges

When Emblemry delivers a private paid badge, it grants the account holder a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:

  • use the badge for personal or commercial purposes;
  • copy, print, publish, display, and distribute it;
  • modify, crop, recolour, combine, and adapt it;
  • incorporate it into products, campaigns, client work, and other material;
  • sell goods or other work that includes it; and
  • let employees, contractors, printers, platforms, distributors, and clients exercise these permissions for the account holder's project.

No attribution to Emblemry is required for a private paid badge.

The licence survives account deletion and the end of Emblemry's private hosting. Keep your downloaded files: account deletion removes the hosted private copies and does not create a replacement or recovery obligation.

3. What neither licence grants

AI-generated output may not qualify for copyright protection, may resemble other work, and may not be unique. Emblemry does not promise copyright ownership, originality, exclusivity, trade-mark clearance, or freedom from third-party rights.

Neither licence gives you:

  • ownership of another person's submission, name, logo, trade mark, artwork, character, photograph, or design;
  • permission to use a protected emblem, coat of arms, seal, credential, or official symbol;
  • a trade mark or exclusive right in the badge;
  • a right to claim that Emblemry, the badge's subject, or another person endorses you; or
  • rights that Emblemry or the person who supplied the brief did not have.

You are responsible for checking whether your intended use needs permission from a third party. This is especially important for brands, organisations, public figures, merchandise, advertising, and official-looking uses.

4. Creator submissions

A person who submits a brief keeps any rights they already have in that material. Under the Terms of Service, they give Emblemry the limited rights needed to process and deliver it.

For a public free badge, that permission also lets Emblemry host the badge and grant the public licence on this page. A public badge page does not identify or create a public profile for the maker.

For private paid work, the submission and badge are not publicly listed or licensed to gallery visitors. Emblemry and the service providers named in the Privacy Policy still process them as needed to provide and protect the private service.

5. Removal and existing copies

A creator or rights holder may ask Emblemry to remove a public badge through the contact page. Emblemry may request proportionate proof of authorship, control of the original creation link, or the right said to be infringed.

Removal ends future hosting and new distribution by Emblemry. It does not:

  • recall a file already downloaded;
  • remove a copy from somebody else's device, product, website, or cache; or
  • revoke a public licence already granted.

Mandatory law and valid third-party rights can require a different result. Because every licence is limited to rights Emblemry can lawfully grant, this page does not defeat an infringement, privacy, or other legal claim.

6. Reports and questions

Use the badge's Report control or the contact page to report a rights problem. Filing a report does not automatically remove the badge. Reports are recorded for consideration, and Emblemry may ask for more information.

Questions about a planned use can be sent through the contact page. Emblemry cannot clear third-party rights or give you legal advice about your project.
